When the Pause Lasts Longer Than You Planned

When the Pause Lasts Longer Than You Planned

It has been a while since I’ve written here. The honest truth is that this year has not been as productive or fruitful for Bodega Blooms as I had hoped.

I thought I would be on hiatus for just a couple of months. Instead, the pause stretched longer than I expected. Without a workstation to create, I haven’t been able to make, experiment, and improve my products the way I wanted to.

I also chose some markets that weren’t the right fit for my products. Those experiences left me questioning my decisions and feeling as though I had lost time—time I could have spent building clientele, making connections, and helping Bodega Blooms grow.

Somewhere along the way, those frustrations turned into bigger questions.

Did I get this wrong? Should I pivot? Can I really do this? What am I doing?

There have even been moments when I’ve wondered whether I’m still taking this seriously, or whether it has become a hobby. And if it has, do I still enjoy it? Do I miss creating itself, or am I caught up in what I thought this business would become?

Those are uncomfortable questions to sit with, especially when you’ve invested time, money, and so much of yourself into something.

I’m sharing this because it’s part of the story, too. Behind the candles, fragrances, and market displays is a person trying to figure out what is possible in the middle of everything else life requires.

Maybe this is a time of reassessment. Maybe it will lead to reinvention. I’m not sure yet, and I don’t want to rush into an answer simply because uncertainty feels uncomfortable.

For now, I’m giving myself room to consider what I still enjoy, what needs to change, and what I realistically have the capacity to do.

I don’t have a big announcement or a clear direction to share today. What I do have is a willingness to be honest about where I am.

I’ll take it one day at a time until the answer becomes clearer.

With love,
Naomi
