Collection: Mi Popa Art by Lolita

The "Dogs Playing Cards" collection is a nostalgic reflection of the artist's childhood memories, blending personal and cultural influences.

Central to each piece is the Dominican traditional faceless doll in curlers (rolos), housecoat (bata), and slippers (chancletas)—symbols of the artist’s mother.

The handbag, inspired by Popa, a comedian the artist loved as a child, humorously represents the artist’s own habit of carrying a purse indoors.

A recurring motif in the art is the Dogs Playing Cards painting, a nod to the artist's beloved, strict Pentecostal abuela, who, unaware of its gambling theme, simply admired the "cute dogs” and hung the painting on her wall.

The changing living room scenes across the series symbolize the passage of time and generational shifts, but the memories remain ever-present.

The artist invites viewers to experience the love and nostalgia embedded in each detail.
